China has a constantly growing job market for qualified lawyers.

If you can speak Mandarin Chinese, finding legal jobs in Beijing or any other city should be a breeze, especially if you were born in China and went overseas to study.

But you still have to get out there and look.

As the legal job market grows, a number of recruiters are moving in as well to help lawyers find jobs and develop their careers.

One of the most respected companies with recruitment offices in Beijing is Hughes-Castell. I recommend you work with them, but there are a few others you can go to.

Whoever you decide to work with, try to only work with one or two trusted companies.

The sad fact (for jobseekers) is, a lot of companies and law firms in China simply don’t post their available jobs online.

New China Career - A new but growing job board

Like I said, finding legal jobs in Beijing or China can be tough, because so few companies post open positions online.

But beyond the traditional job board, you can use you social media skills (like looking at friends on Facebook) to help you find legal jobs.

Facebook, and its Chinese copycat RenRenWang, are actually quite popular in China.

Add friends here and on LinkedIn who look like lawyers in Beijing or wherever you want to go in China.

Then do some good old-fashioned networking, but online!

In China, connections (or “guanxi”) counts a lot, especially in the legal industry, and especially when looking for new jobs.
